San Pedro del Pinatar is a small town in the province of Murcia. The city is located between the Mediterranean Sea and the Mar Menor, a saltwater lake on the Costa Blanca that owes its fame to its salt production and medicinal mud baths. Murcia is 46 kilometers away and Cartagena 35 kilometers. The population of San Pedro is currently around 25,000 and the entire area covers 22 kilometres. Salt has been mined here since Roman times and there are no less than eight kilometers of beaches in the area.
San Pedro del Pinatar covers 22 km² and is situated on the Mar Menor, the largest natural lake in the world. There are 320 days of sunshine per year and an annual average temperature of 18 degrees. It is situated 46 km from Murcia. The Romans spent their free time here. A large amount of fruit used to be transported from the harbor.
