AREA SURROUNDING VILLA GUAPA
The Mar Menor, or "small sea", is the largest salt water lagoon in Europe, and together with the Mediterranean Sea, the area, also known as the Costa Cálida, has more than 230 kilometers of sandy beaches.
Any activity is possible in this coastal area. You can swim, sail, windsurf, enjoy a pedalo or just relax on one of the sandy beaches on the coast or on one of the islands in the Mar Menor.
Mar Menor is the largest lagoon in Europe, and is separated from the Mediterranean Sea by a strip of land. This makes the water feel nice and warm in summer, but it is also a few degrees warmer than the Mediterranean Sea. You will also find the famous mud baths of Lo Págan here.
The water of the Mar Menor has a high therapeutic value because of the high concentration of mineral salts and iodine. You will find many spas and hotels along the coast offering all kinds of therapeutic treatments, but if you prefer to keep it simple, rub some mud on yourself.
Given the warm, clear water and the shallow depth of the salt lake, water sports in all their forms are possible here. You can go canoeing, water skiing, swimming, snorkeling and pedal-boating. In the summer there are lovely boat trips to various places and islands in the area. On the boulevard you can even take a "Segway" tour.
