Alicante

ALICANTE, the capital of the province, is the second most important city of the autonomous region of Valencia. Alicante lies 170 km to the north of the capital Valencia and 65 km from Torrevieja in the south, and has an international airport located just minutes from the center.

Alicante is a city bustling with life, ideally located on the Mediterranean coastline and in the shadow of Mount Benacantil.

Alicante has a pleasant climate: mild winters and hot summers with an average temperature of 18 degrees.

The city, with its around 300,000 inhabitants, is proud of its hospitable people, who are used to living alongside foreigners.

The largest - and also quietest - beach is that of San Juan, which has fine golden sand; the most popular beach is "El Postiguet". It is extremely pleasant to stroll along the beautiful boulevard lined with palm trees and through the well-kept parks bursting with plants.

Parallel to the port of Alicante, there is the famous "Explanada de España", where artisan markets are held throughout the year.

We now head into the old part of town, where the picturesque district of Santa Cruz can be found. This area has a Mediterranean atmosphere. The walls of the castle merge with tiered streets to form natural vantage points. Numerous historic buildings, such as the baroque palace that has now been transformed into the current town hall, are located in the center.
